Buddy Ebsen: 1908-2003

Early Career in Entertainment (1908-1935) 

Born Christian Ludolf Ebsen Jr. on April 2, 1908, in Belleville, Illinois, Buddy Ebsen moved to California to pursue a career in entertainment. He initially found success as a dancer on Broadway and in early film musicals.

Hollywood Acting Career (1936-1961) 

Ebsen transitioned to acting, gaining recognition in films like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Captain January." His versatility as an actor allowed him to transition between movie and television roles seamlessly.

The Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones (1962-1980) 

Ebsen's most famous role was as Jed Clampett in the hit television series "The Beverly Hillbillies," which ran from 1962 to 1971. He later starred in the detective series "Barnaby Jones," further cementing his status as a television icon.

Later Years and Legacy (1981-2003) 

In his later years, Ebsen continued to act and also pursued painting and writing. He passed away on July 6, 2003, in Torrance, California, but had lived for many years in Newport Beach, Orange County. Ebsen left behind a legacy as a beloved actor and entertainer.
